Anonymize files before using them with Gemini
Anonymize any document before it reaches an AI. Nothing leaves your device. Spreadsheets, decks and documents keep their structure; only the people, companies and numbers change.
- 0 network requests
- Works with Wi‑Fi off
- Free, no account
- Restore names afterwards
Why it matters
Why anonymize before you share
Workspace files carry customer data
A sales sheet, a support export or a board deck contains customer names, emails and account numbers. Anonymize the copy you share, keep the original where it is.
Provider settings vary by account
Whether prompts are reviewed, retained or used for training depends on the account type and admin settings. Check the provider's data controls; anonymizing first works regardless.
Structure matters more than names
For a chart, a pivot summary or a slide rewrite the model needs the columns and the numbers, not the customer behind each row.
Undo it in one step
The mapping table restores the real names in the answer, in your browser, with the de-anonymizer.
How to do it
Four steps, all in your browser
- 1
Upload the file or paste the text
Word, PDF, PowerPoint, Excel, CSV, JSON, HTML, Markdown or plain text. Up to 10 files, 50 MB each. The file is opened in your browser tab and never sent anywhere.
- 2
Choose the rule
Decide how each category is rewritten: labels like Person 1 / Company A, realistic fake values, masking or redaction. Optionally enable smart detection and add words to your dictionary.
- 3
Review what will change
Names, companies, emails, phone numbers, IDs and IBANs are listed with their replacements. Turn items off, add missed ones, correct a category. Nothing changes until you confirm.
- 4
Download and paste into the AI
You get the same file back, a Markdown version to paste into the chat, and a mapping table. Paste the AI's answer into the de-anonymizer to put the original names back.
What to replace
Checklist for this domain
The tool detects most of these automatically. Add the rest to your dictionary so they are replaced consistently.

Questions
Common questions
Do Excel formulas survive?
Yes. Formulas and numeric cells are not touched; only text cells, comments and sheet names are scanned.
Can I anonymize a Google Sheet or Doc?
Export it as XLSX or DOCX, anonymize it here, then upload the anonymized file. Nothing is read from your Google account.
Does Gemini keep my files?
That depends on your account type and settings; check the provider's data controls. Sharing an anonymized copy keeps personal data out of the prompt in any case.
Is anything sent to Unformation?
No. Everything runs in your browser; 0 network requests during processing.
